Running Champ

So proud of Heidi!

She has really enjoyed running track this year at school.

She was so excited to learn that she qualified to run with the varsity track team.

Heidi is in the 7th grade!

This past Saturday, Heidi ran the 2-mile at the North State track meet and placed THIRD!!

That means that she, as a 7th grader, will be competing on the varsity team at the State Track Meet coming up on Saturday!

So proud of our girl!

Let's Play Ball

Maylee & Sam David had their 1st Challenger Baseball Game last night!

They were so excited about going shopping for their very own gloves and bats!

Bennett was Sam David's buddy for most of the game and did such a great job helping his little brother!

Maylee spotted an airplane in the sky that seemed a
lot more exciting than guarding 2nd base.

Batting was definitely a favorite with both Maylee & Sam David!

Way to go, SD!!!

Of course, we had to shake hands with the other team at the conclusion of the game.

All of that hard work at the game really paid off...

We, conveniently, have to pass right by a playground on our way to the car.

My hats go off to the wonderful people who organize Challenger League every year!

For many years now, I have gone to watch Challenger Baseball.

But, this year....it is extra special as I witness my two youngest kiddos have the time of their lives out on that field with very special friends.

THANK YOU, RIDGELAND CHALLENGER LEAGUE!!

You are awesome!!!

Therapy Fun

Maylee has made such great progress since beginning physical therapy twice a week!
Ms. Terry makes Maylee work hard and we can definitely see the results as her walking has improved.

We are so thankful for Ms. Terry and her patience with Maylee and Sam David!

Take Me Out To The Ballgame

We were invited to the Governor's Cup baseball game last night and had a blast!

Sam David and Maylee will both begin playing Challenger League Baseball next week.

So, SD was really into watching what the players were doing as they warmed up right in front of us.

I am so thankful for the many volunteers and sponsors that make Challenger League a reality to so many children and adults with disabilities within our community.

Barnyard Dance Fun

We have looked forward to this day for a while.

You see, twice a year, our friends open their beautiful farm up for the Joni & Friends Barnyard Dance.

My kids absolutely love every minute of it!

Joni & Friends is an incredible ministry ministering to those touched by disability.

Check it out. I am honored to serve on the board of the chapter office here in our state.

Maylee LOVED swinging on the rope!

Maylee & one of her best buddies, Hannah

So Excited to finally be on the hayride!

Surprise Visitor

When we returned home from our weekend at the Farm, look what we found waiting by our back door...

She is a precious teeny tiny kitty that we have named Blue. She has the most beautiful blue eyes and is already quite spoiled.

Done

Surgery is over and went well!
The surgeon was able to remove all of the nevus, which is great news!

Surgery

They just took SD back for surgery to remove the birthmark on his belly and a small birthmark on his fingertip.
Praying it isn't too deep and they are able to get it all with this procedure.

A Little Farm Time

We were excited to finally have the opportunity to get away from the busyness of our typical weekends and spend Easter weekend hanging out at the farm.

Of course, the donkeys greeted us as soon as we got out of the truck. They are so spoiled!

Maylee enjoyed feeding some crackers to the donkey and was brave enough this time to actually pet him.

Everybody want a turn to drive the ranger around the yard and pasture.

Bennett enjoyed getting in some target practice with is pellet gun.

Maylee loved picking some flowers to make an arrangement for the table.

Sleepy Time & Pre-Op

Well...
Sam David handled the test like a pro. He actually fell asleep half way through the procedure!
The results were not really what we wanted to hear. But, they weren't totally unexpected either. We will begin a different medicine regimen and come back for another Urodynamics in 6 months.
Then it was time to head to our pre-op appointments with plastic surgery.
Sam David will be having surgery on Monday to remove the hairy nevus covering his belly button. He will get a brand new belly button! Of course, the surgeon said he would do the best he could with the reconstruction, but that his work was not as good as God's work. :-)

One Started, Two to Go!

Sam David is chillin' while we wait for his 1st of 3 appointments today.
First on the list: The lovely Urodynamics!
Then we are off to a pre-op appointment.
After that, we come full circle with another appointment with Urology to find out the results of the Urodynamics test. Fun times!

Prom

Maylee and I shared in the excitement of Abby and several of her friends as they were getting ready for Prom. Their Senior Prom!

What a sweet memory-
My oldest girl and my youngest girl.
They have a unique relationship and really are the biggest of buddies.
They both had a twinkle in their eyes that night.
Sweet, sweet sisters...forever!
